# Privacy

This is a personal academic site. It has no accounts, no sign-in, no comment
box and no forms, so there is nothing here for you to submit and nothing for me
to store about you. I do not sell, share or trade visitor data, because I do
not hold any that could be traded.

## Cookies

This site sets no cookies and writes nothing to local storage. That is why you
are not being asked to dismiss a consent banner.

## Measurement

Two scripts from the site's host, Vercel, run on each page: Web Analytics and
Speed Insights. Web Analytics counts page views and referrers without cookies
and without a persistent visitor identifier. Speed Insights reports
page-loading measurements — the Core Web Vitals — so I can tell whether a
change made the site slower. Both report to me in aggregate only: I can see
that a page was viewed, not who viewed it. Vercel describes what these products
collect in its [analytics privacy documentation](https://vercel.com/docs/analytics/privacy-policy).

## Server logs

Vercel operates the servers and content delivery network that answer requests
for this site, and like any web host it processes request data — IP address,
user agent, requested path — in order to deliver the page and to defend against
abuse. That processing is Vercel's, under its own
[privacy policy](https://vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy), and I do not receive
those raw logs.

## Third parties

The fonts and images on this site are served from this domain rather than a
font or image CDN, so loading a page does not announce your visit to a third
party. Links that leave this site — to Google Scholar, GitHub, LinkedIn,
Medium, publishers, or the university — are governed by the privacy policies of
those services once you follow them.

## Automated clients

Crawling and machine reading are allowed; see
<https://www.ashwinrohit.com/robots.txt> and
<https://www.ashwinrohit.com/llms.txt>. Requests from automated clients are
handled exactly like any other request, and are subject to the same measurement
and logging described above.
